We’re excited to announce a new partnership that will allow ICCSD Student ID cards to be used at the public libraries within our district. Over the past six months, we’re grateful to have had the opportunity to work with the Iowa City Public Library, Coralville Public Library, and North Liberty Public Library to implement this complex project. Some of the highlights of this program include:
- an exemption from fines and late fees
- access to books at any public library location, along with access to digital materials, books on CD, and other media
- ability to check out up to 3 items at a time
- access to the public library system for all ICCSD students in grades K-12
We’ve been able to integrate our systems such that this service will be available to students immediately (pending distribution of ID cards to elementary students, which is underway).

We’ve had relatively few ongoing technical issues with Canvas, but one of the problems that’s been a nagging issue that’s impacted our students and teachers is an issue with embedded Google documents.
One of the features of Canvas is that it integrates with Google Drive; teachers can embed Google syllabi, assignment descriptions, sheets that students can collaborate on, etc., within Canvas. Further, students can submit Google Docs as Canvas assignment submissions, embed Google docs in wikis and discussion boards, and so forth.Continue reading Solving the “Google Authorization” Issue in Canvas
ICCSD staff members – teachers, administrators, and other staff members are eligible – should check out and register for our summer technology-focused PD offerings, listed here.
You can sign up for one course or workshop, or as many as you like. Most of the offerings are short (2-4 hour) workshops; there is no fee to sign up for these, nor is there compensation provided for enrolling in them. The courses that indicate that they’re available for license renewal or graduate credit are 15-hour courses, and there is a fee associated with the credits earned. As with the workshops, there is no compensation provided for enrolling in these courses.
