As part of a planned system upgrade, the ICCSD internet connection will briefly be offline at 5:00 PM on Monday, August 28th. We expect this outage to last for a short time, but there is the possibility that outages will continue either continuously or sporadically for up to one hour.
We do not expect any downtime after 6:00 PM on August 28th. As always, we appreciate your patience as we work to improve our network infrastructure and performance.
With temperatures in the 50s this past weekend, it finally seems as though spring is in sight. While day-to-day technology support needs in the district tend to hit a bit of a lull at this time of year – many chronic issues have been solved, and most new technology initiatives and programs are well-established – this is a busy time of year from a planning perspective. On Monday, February 20th at 6:30 PM, ICCSD will experience an internet service outage due to scheduled maintenance by our internet service provider, the Iowa Communications Network (ICN). During the outage, internet service will not be available within district buildings, and some district-provided web services, such as Exchange email, will not be available. The district website, PowerSchool, and Google services will continue to be available during this time.
While we do not yet have an expectation from the ICN regarding how long this maintenance window will take, we are estimating a four-hour service disruption.
*UPDATE: 1:21 PM, 10/28/16*
Normal internet and network operation has now been restored district-wide. We identified a network policy that was creating an inordinate amount of traffic. That traffic flow has now been stopped, and other network indicators are now within normal ranges. We appreciate your patience as we worked through this problem.
8:00 AM: The ICCSD network is currently experiencing a networking / internet service disruption as of 8 AM on October 28th.
This can be seen in the image at the right; typically an early-morning speed test should show between 500Mb and 1000Mb down; currently I’m seeing 5Mb down from my test machine. While the internet is still accessible, performance – especially for streaming applications – will be slow and/or unreliable until the problem is resolved.
We believe that we have isolated the issue and are working to fix the problem. I will provide an update here as soon as the problem is resolved. We appreciate your patience in the meantime.
